Focus on Content Creation and Lead Generation

For many people not in the know, the creation of a website is treated as a one-off activity and budgets are prepared to pay website designers this one-off fee. In addition, little awareness exists that not only must the website be great to look at and have a user interface that will keep visitors interested, the owner of the site must be able to make modifications regularly to the site without having to incur excessive additional costs for amendments, updates or new content.

From this perspective, when creating a business website, it is important to understand that visitors who are drawn to your site should be kept on your site for as long as possible. User-friendly interfaces with light text and good navigation menus are key in achieving this. The content that is available on your site is also important as, the more interesting or informative or educational it is, the more likely that the visitor will remain. Pause for a minute and consider how much time you spend on websites other than your own. Do you flit in and out, merely scanning sites for information that is relevant to you; or do you actually go through sites in detail. I think you will find that generally, the answer is the former.
